Love of nature and shared values is something we have in common with our partner DNT. So, when we at Devold were looking for a DNT Youth Ambassador, we were after someone with a reputation for hiking enjoyment, environmental concern, and sustainability. An application from Torkel Reinertsen, Chairman of the Board of DNT Youth Stavanger, raised our eyebrows. Although he did say he felt best wearing Devold wool, he, more than anything, wanted to challenge us about environmental responsibility and sustainability. It’s something we fell for.
The textile industry is the second-most polluting industry after oil and gas. So, everyone working in our industry carries a share of responsibility. These considerations include working conditions, animal welfare, and impact on the climate. That’s where the biggest differences are, I think, and it’s in this area that I feel Devold tops the rest. As long as I can wear an item of clothing in good conscience and can get the temperatures I need, I’m happy.
